Brain Death Determination In-Person Course

Date Posted: Wednesday, January 22, 2025

Available CE Hours: 5

The Brain Death Determination course, presented by the Neurocritical Care Society, aims to standardize the process of brain death diagnosis. The purpose of the Brain Death Determination In-Person Course is to provide a hands-on opportunity for participants to demonstrate the recommended evaluation for determining brain death as well as the appropriate techniques for communicating with fellow providers and patient families. This credentialing tool will help those clinicians who are allowed by their local laws to perform brain death determination to learn and demonstrate their level of understanding and expertise by:

  • Participants will be able to accurately perform the clinical evaluation procedures for determining brain death.
  • Participants will be able to develop effective communication strategies for discussing brain death determinations with both healthcare providers and patient families.
  • Participants will be able to formulate evidence based medical recommendations for patient scenarios after participating in related case vignettes.
