Rush University Medical Center, a nationally recognized clinical and academic institution and the teaching hospital for Rush Medical and Nursing Colleges, located in downtown Chicago, invites applications for the position of Neurointensivist.

 

The Department of Neurological Sciences is seeking Neurointensivists to join our distinguished Neurocritical Care Program. his position is a full-time faculty position. Candidate should be eligible for faculty appointment in Rush Medical College at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor.

 

The Neurosciences Critical Care Unit at Rush is a state-of-the-art 28 bed unit housed in the acute and critical care tower of the Rush hospital and is adjacent to a 128-slice dual energy CT scanner. The breadth of patient care is diverse, with over 100 subarachnoid hemorrhages and 200 intracerebral hemorrhages a year. The Rush Neuroscience ICU is a closed-unit model with a dedicated team of residents, fellows, advance practice providers, pharmacist, nutritionist and the Neurointensivist who is the primary attending physician. The team works in collaboration with multi-disciplinary specialists, including three full-time endovascular surgeons, three vascular neurosurgeons, and six stroke neurologists.

 

Candidates should be board certified or board eligible and have completed a UCNS or ACGME-accredited, two- year neurocritical care fellowship. Consistent with Rush’s mission, a premium is placed on high quality teaching by the University and Department of Neurological Sciences. The Department is also committed to research as it often overlaps with teaching to provide the greatest impact for our patients, for advancing research, and for our trainees. The department infrastructure provides an environment conducive to fostering strong, lasting mentor relationships, and is fully supportive of helping faculty members accomplish their research goals. Rush is an ACGME and UCNS-accredited fellowship training program that currently trains four fellows each year. Participation in, as well as development of, clinical trials and protocols are encouraged and facilitated by our own section Research Coordinator
