Job Summary:

 

The Neurologist at Exceed Medical is a certified and licensed physician who independently and collaboratively diagnoses and treats disorders of the brain, spinal cord, and nervous system. They assess a patient’s mental and physical health, perform medical tests and imaging, and analyze the results to provide accurate diagnoses and effective treatments for neurological conditions.
 

 

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrates in depth knowledge of etiologies, risk factors, pathophysiology, and clinical presentation of acute and chronic neurological medical conditions.

  • Utilizes critical thinking skills to synthesize and analyze patient data.

  • Performs comprehensive or problem-focused histories and physical assessments for adult patients with Neurological conditions ensuring accuracy and thoroughness.

  • Counsels patients and their families on neurological disorders, underlying causes and available treatments.

  • Orders, interprets and evaluates laboratory and diagnostic tests to assess patient problems and health care needs. Demonstrates competency in lumbar puncture skills and routine “spot” electroencephalograph (EEG) interpretation.
    • Neurophysiology fellowship, epilepsy fellowship and/or demonstrated competency is required to be able to interpret and report on long-term EEG monitoring studies.

  • Prescribes and manages pharmacologic agents and other treatment modalities with attention to efficacy, safety and individualized care.

  • Formulates and implements comprehensive outcomes-based treatment plans using the patient assessment, evidence-based medicine, standards of care, professional practice guidelines, and in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team, when appropriate.

  • Monitors and evaluates patient responsiveness to treatment therapies, making timely adjustments to care plans as needed.

  • Initiates timely consultations and referrals, including collaborating with other specialists based on patient need.

  • Maintains clear and ongoing communication with patients, families, and members of the health care team.

  • Ensures accurate, complete, and timely documentation in the electronic medical record.

  • Participates in teaching and training Advanced Practice providers, medical students, or residents as applicable.

  • Completes accurate and timely billing that aligns with medical records and documentation.

  • Stays current with advancements in neurological care, treatments and medications.

 

Telehealth Responsibilities:

  • Conducts virtual patient consultations using telehealth platforms to provide accessible neurological care.

  • Provides a timely response to code stroke activations and other neurological emergencies, whether in-person or via telehealth, to ensure rapid evaluation and management of acute stroke including but not limited to thrombolysis and thrombectomy referral decision-making.

  • Evaluates and treats patients via telemedicine, ensuring high standards of care comparable to in-person visits.

  • Identifies patients who require in-person care and facilitates appropriate follow-up.
     

  • Guides patients and families on the use of telehealth technologies, ensuring a smooth and effective virtual experience.

  • Maintains HIPAA compliance and safeguards patient confidentiality during all telehealth encounters.

  • Documents telehealth visits accurately and promptly in the electronic medical record (EMR).

  • Collaborates with the interdisciplinary care team through virtual communication to coordinate patient care effectively.

  • Monitors the efficacy and patient satisfaction of telehealth services and suggests improvements as needed.

  • Participates in the development and implementation of telehealth protocols and best practices for neurological care.

 


Job Requirements:

 

    • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).

    • MD or DO degree with board certification or eligibility in Neurology.

    • Active and unrestricted medical license in the state of practice.

    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for patient and team interactions.

    • Proven ability to work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team.

    • Commitment to staying current with medical research and advancements in neurology.
