University of Minnesota Physicians seeks a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join the
University of Minnesota Health Neuro Critical Care team. In this role, you will work with a
collaborative team of physicians, nurses and administrative staff to provide comprehensive health
care and plan of care within the Neuro Critical Care Program in the Neuroscience Service Line.
Patients are cared for at the University of Minnesota Medical Center, Fairview on the East Bank.
This position in inpatient focused and does not have outpatient responsibilities
The PA or NP is an experienced member of the health care team who uses advanced practice skill
with the supervision/collaboration of licensed physicians to provide comprehensive health care
services to Neuro Critical Care patients. This includes but is not limited to history and physicals, ICU
procedures, daily progress notes, imaging and laboratory result evaluation, discharge orders,
planning and summaries. The Neuro Critical Care service provides primary team coverage of Neuro
ICU patients and co-management of Neurosurgical patients who require ICU stay. The PA or NP
functions as a communication liaison between patient/family, consultants, and multi-professional
teammates. As a member of the team of Neuro Intensivist physicians, the PA/NP actively
collaborate with and mentor medical students, Neurology and Neurosurgical residents, Neurology
Stroke and Critical Care fellows on their rotations in the Neuro ICU.
The schedule for this position is a rotating schedule that include days, evenings, weekends, and
5 days of CME, in addition to PTO that is accrued

Societal membership reimbursement (i.e. NCS)Position Qualifications:
A qualified candidate will be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing and formal Nurse
Practitioner training program or a graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program. Have a
current MN RN license and be approved or eligible by the Minnesota Board of Nursing for
prescription writing privileges or a current PA license with prescriptive authority through the MN
Board of Medical Practice. Be certified through ANA / AANC or eligible for ANA/AANC national exam
or through the NCCPA and meet threshold criteria/qualifications for credentialing and privileges.
Graduate of an acute care nurse practitioner program with 3 years as an advanced practice provider
in a critical care setting is preferred. New graduate candidates with at least 5 years of neurocritical
