Salary Range:

We are looking for an Academic Neurointensivist to join the neurocritical care faculty at McGovern Medical School at the University of Texas Health Sciences Center in Houston (UTHealth).

UTHealth, in collaboration with Memorial Hermann Hospital, utilizes state-of-the art technology and facilities. Our neurocritical care team members provide high acuity care for patients with life-threatening neurological conditions. In addition to our high volume Comprehensive Stroke and Cerebrovascular Surgery Programs, Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center is one of the highest volume trauma centers in the country.

The Division of Neurocritical care has 10 clinical Neurointensivist faculty members and 2 PhD Research faculty members. We are looking to expand by adding another physician-scientist with interest in translational research.

We have an active research program with 6 PIs with broad expertise in clinical research (active clinical trials), bioinformatics, translational studies (TBI, SAH, Ischemic stroke models) and biomarker discovery. The neurocritical care division has significant infrastructure to conduct both clinical and translational research. We are funded through grants from the NIH, DOD, AHA, NSF and private foundations. Additionally, we have strong scientific collaborations within the medical school. UT Houston is a CTSA site and has ample opportunities for institutional grants for young investigators.

Junior faculty applicants must be serious in their ambitions for pursuing a successful independently funded research career. Established applicants must have a track record of successful research and grant funding.

The salary is competitive. A significant research package for appropriate applicants is possible.

The candidate must be a neurology trained neurointensivist with strong clinical skills and looking to pursue a career as an independently funded researcher.
