Redwood City, California
This is an exceptional opportunity to join our team of 3 Neurointensivists, 13 Neurosurgeons, 3 Interventional Neuroradiologists and other experienced physicians from related specialties. At Kaiser Permanente, we staff a closed NICU in our TJC designated Comprehensive Stroke Center and manage all aspects of our patients’ care. In addition to standard ICU procedures, the Neurointensivists are experienced in bedside EVD, ICP monitor and percutaneous tracheostomy placement, as well as bedside subdural drainage (SEPS).
A newer dimension to our practice is an expanding "Virtual Neuro-ICU" model in which we round with Intensivists and Neurologists at other Northern California Kaiser Permanente facilities on non-surgical, critically ill neurological patients via telemedicine. Our goal is to create a clinical rotation system among the 4 Neurointensivists in which we do 1 week blocks of primary Neuro-ICU, Virtual Neuro-ICU and routine regional phone consultations and consults on our complex stroke and neurosurgical patients outside of the ICU.
This position requires a BC/BE Neurologist with fellowship training in Neurocritical Care. Must be comfortable working in a closed Neuro-ICU, including management of ventilators and drips. Candidates who have passed (or who are eligible to take) the UCNS Subspecialty Certification in Neurocritical Care are preferred. Must be eligible to obtain a California medical license or be currently licensed to practice within California
