Description:
The Department of Neurology at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, is seeking a BC/BE Vascular Neurologist with interest in telestroke, for a position at the Assistant Professor level in the Cerebrovascular Disease Section. Washington University/ Barnes-Jewish Hospital is a Joint-Commission certified Comprehensive Stroke Center (one of only two in the St. Louis area), and one of the highest volume centers in the country. The center, with seven vascular neurologists, seven neurointensivists, four endovascular surgeons, and five vascular neurosurgeons, is a highly collaborative and cross-disciplinary. 

This position primarily entails evaluating and treating acute stroke patients at remote hospitals via real-time telephonic or televideo consultation. Prior telestroke experience and/or training is welcomed.  Inpatient and outpatient stroke neurology practice opportunities, tailored to the individual’s interest are also part of the position.  Interest in stroke network practice implementation, quality-improvement or clinical/ translational research is encouraged.   

The Cerebrovascular Disease section offers a nurturing clinical and academic environment that maintains a tradition of excellence in clinical service, education, and cutting-edge research. Washington University is a Regional Coordinating Center for StrokeNet (the NIH-supported stroke trials infrastructure), participating in a variety of acute stroke treatment, stroke prevention, and stroke recovery trials. In addition, the Stroke Center at Washington University is a leader at the cutting edge of NIH-supported investigator-initiated basic and translational research related to stroke and cerebrovascular disease.
