Seeking a cerebrovascular neurologist for a full-time faculty position in the Department of Neurology, at the University of California, Davis, School of Medicine.
UC Davis Medical Center is located in Sacramento, CA between the San Francisco Bay area and Lake Tahoe. Currently, UC Davis Medical Center is an advanced primary stroke center operating as a comprehensive stroke center moving forward with certification within the next year. There exists neurology and neurosurgery residency programs, neurocritical care ICU, 24 hours/7 day coverage for neuro-endovascular procedures, neurovascular neurosurgery, RN stroke coordinator, and a well-established telestroke/ teleneurology network.
As a Level 1 Trauma Center UC Davis Health has the largest catchment area of the academic medical centers in California. UC Davis Medical Center and the Neurology and Neurosurgery department is nationally recognized for quality of patient care and provides clinical, academic, and research leadership. There are highly active well-funded research programs and clinical trials in the cerebrovascular field in place.
The position is available in either the Health Sciences Clinical Professor or Clinical X series at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor level. In both the Health Science Clinical Professor and Clinical X series, the faculty member will provide inpatient and outpatient clinical care; teach medical students, residents and fellows; and provide university/public service.
For the Clinical X series, the ability and experience to conduct scholarly/clinical/translational research and a record of publication in peer-reviewed journals is required. Evidence of success in obtaining extramural funding and/or administering clinical trials is preferred. The Department of Neurology strives to provide support for a successful academic career.
Candidates must possess an MD or DO degree, be board certified in Neurology by the ABPN, be board certified or board eligible in Vascular Neurology by the ABPN and have the ability to obtain a California medical license. The ability to work cooperatively and collegially within a diverse environment is required. Candidates who are board certified in Vascular Neurology and board certified and eligible in Neurocritical Care are preferred.
The level of appointment will be commensurate with credentials.
