Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, recently ranked by US News & World Report as the #8 Best Hospital and #16 in Neurology & Neurosurgery specialties, is seeking a Director for our 24 bed closed Neuroscience Intensive Care Unit in Los Angeles. The successful candidate will join an exceptional peer group and contribute to enhancing a nationally recognized clinical and academic department. Cedars-Sinai is a Primary Stroke Center and has achieved GWTG Gold Plus recognition for three years.
The Director of Neurosciences Critical Care Unit works under the direction of the Department Chairs for Neurology and Neurosurgery and actively participates in the implementation of strategic and operational plans for the Neuro Critical Care Intensive Care Program. Actively participates in clinical and programmatic activities, which support the Medical Center’s mission of quality patient care, research, education and teaching, and community service.
The Director is responsible for the coordination of Residents, Fellows, and Nurse Practitioners in the Neuro ICU. Encouraged to participate in research on behalf of Neurology and Neurosurgery, exploring opportunities for collaborative research, sponsoring educational programs and supporting visiting lectureships.
Will lead and enhance a multidisciplinary critical care team including neurosurgeons, neurologists, trauma surgeons, residents, fellows and nurse practitioners. The ideal candidate should have completed an ACGME approved residency program in neurology as well as an approved fellowship in neurocritical care medicine and be board certified or eligible in Neurocritical Care. Candidates should feel comfortable working in a closed Neuro-ICU.
Essential Qualifications: Candidates must be California licensed or license eligible, and qualified for appointment at the appropriate academic rank. Must have an established track record in both clinical and investigative neurology, and have an established clinical and academic career. Candidates with established track records in research are encouraged to apply.
Academic appointment through the Cedars-Sinai professorial series is required and is also available through the David Geffen School of Medicine at the University of California Los Angeles.
