POSITION SUMMARY: Under the direction of an attending neurointensivist, the advanced practice provider (APP) will provide neurocritical care to patients with acute neurologic injury, including ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke, status epilepticus, and brain herniation. The APP will be rigorously trained in neurocritical care with progressive independence appropriate to provider competence. The APP will primarily work in the ICU with limited exposure to the emergency department and other inpatient areas. The APP will be expected to assist in clinical education of residents, nursing, and other staff members, as well as scientific research. Our neurocritical APP team will form the core of a new Neurocritical Care service and participate in the creation of a new Neurocritical Care Unit.

American Heart Association BLS-HCP, ACLS.
NP: Graduate of an accredited registered nursing program.
Master’s Degree in nursing (Adult Acute Care Nurse Practitioner) or higher degree with concentration in the respective advanced practice nursing specialty from an accredited college or university.
Current Louisiana license as a registered nurse.
Current Louisiana license as an advanced practice registered nurse with Board Certification of Adult Acute nurse practitioner.
PA: Master's Degree in Physician Assistant or higher degree with concentration in speciality.
Current Louisiana license as Physician Assistant.
