The Department of Neurology and Rehabilitation in the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) College of Medicine is continuing our rapid expansion seeking a nationally prominent academic leader in neurocritical care. We are looking for a visionary leader to join an exceptional peer group of physicians and scientists to oversee a high-volume 22-bed neuro-intensive care unit in a tertiary care transfer center and Comprehensive Stroke Center in the heart of the Chicago, caring for a diverse spectrum of patients and pathologies. The Neuro-ICU team is a multidisciplinary team composed of dedicated ICU residents from neurology, neurosurgery, and anesthesia, as well as critical care fellows, pharmacists, and an experienced and passionate nursing staff. Candidates should have completed an ACGME-approved fellowship and be Board-Eligible or Board-Certified in Neurocritical Care by the UCNS.
The Department of Neurology and Rehabilitation has an actively growing research program with a strong emphasis on Big Data approaches to human brain disorders, a novel NeuroRepository to store human tissues, and a strong relationship with bioengineering and basic neuroscience programs. The Department of Neurosurgery is internationally known for its work on vascular neurology and novel brain imaging approaches.
Ideal candidates will have strong academic and leadership interests as well as complementary research interests and will have the opportunity to recruit additional positions to build a nationally ranked program. The position will be jointly appointed in the Department of Neurosurgery, will have access to innovative treatment modalities, and will contribute active to program growth and development. A significant start-up package including protected time and research funds will be provided to qualified applicants with an established background in research. Salary/rank/tenure is commensurate with experience.
