Description:
The Department of Neurology at the University of Kansas Health System seeks applicants with neurocritical care subspecialty training. Located in Kansas City, we have a busy neurocritical care unit and thriving neurosurgical and neurointerventional programs. Our 28-bed newly-constructed state-of-the-art unit is staffed by three neurointensivists who work in coordination with anesthesiology intensivists. Our patient population includes those with subarachnoid hemorrhage, hemorrhagic and ischemic stroke, brain tumors, vascular malformations as well as patients with respiratory failure from neuromuscular disorders. We also manage post-operative neuroendovascular and neurosurgical patients, working in close partnership with the interventional neuroradiologists and neurosurgeons. The neurocritical care team includes advanced practice practitioners, as well as resident physicians from the departments of Neurology, Anesthesiology, and Neurosurgery, all of whom provide 24/7 coverage.
Academic rank will be at the Assistant or Associate Professor level. Board certification/eligibility in Neurology is required.
