MedStar Washington Hospital Center (MWHC) is a 926-bed Level 1 Trauma Center + Comprehensive Stroke Center located in the center of Washington, DC. MWHC has a 25-bed neurocritical care unit, a full complement of board-certified neurointensivists, neuro-trained advanced practice providers (PA and NP), neurology residents, and neurosurgery interns that provide 24/7 in-house coverage for the ICUs.

Neurointensivists should be comfortable managing severe traumatic brain injury and polytrauma, subarachnoid hemorrhage, intracerebral hemorrhage, large vessel occlusion acute ischemic stroke, spinal cord injury, status epilepticus, and post-operative neurosurgery. As faculty in the Department of Critical Care Medicine, neurointensivists should also have experience managing patients in other surgical subspecialties including General surgery, Thoracic surgery, Vascular surgery, and ENT.

Neurointensivists will join an established 25-member group as faculty in the Department of Critical Care Medicine at MWHC.
