The Department of Neurology at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center is seeking a licensed Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to partner with Neurology, Neurosurgery, and Critical Care physicians as they care for Neurocritical care patients admitted to an established NeuroCritical Care program). The Advanced Practice Professional will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team of physicians, advanced practitioners, nurses, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, physical therapists and other specialties in the Neuro ICU. The Advanced Practice Professional should be willing to work autonomously in a fast paced and collaborative environment and will have a strong interest in the longitudinal care of critically ill neurological patients.
The primary responsibility of the Advanced Practice Professional is the direct application of clinical expertise to patients and families being cared for in a tertiary care, academic medical center, including responsibility for maintaining quality of care standards for all procedures performed and all clinical care provided in the critical care setting.
The Advanced Practice Professional will be fully integrated into the ongoing functions of the Neurological ICU, such as research projects, teaching rounds, quality improvement projects, and resident and student education. Resident and student education is further facilitated with an appointment as an Instructor in the Geisel School of Medicine. The Advanced Practice Professional will be responsible for competently performing essential procedures including central line placement, arterial line placement, endotracheal intubations, and lumbar punctures.

Requirements for Nurse Practitioners:
- RN and APRN currently licensed or eligible for licensure in NH
- Graduate of an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner’s Master’s Program
Requirements for Physician Assistants:
- Current certification or eligibility for certification to practice as a Physician’s Assistant in the state of NH
- Graduate from a certified Physician Assistant Program
