SUMMARY - The Barrow Neurological Institute Neurocritical Care Division is seeking motivated Physician Assistants or Nurse Practitioners to join our vibrant ICU team at Dignity Health St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center in Phoenix, Arizona. As one of the best specialty hospitals in the world for neurosurgery, a Joint Commission-certified Comprehensive Stroke Center, and a Level 1 Trauma Center, Barrow provides an enriching environment for healthcare professionals. While prior neurocritical care ICU experience is helpful, we welcome candidates who are eager to learn through on-the-job training. A collaborative disposition and a background in neuroscience and/or critical care is preferred.
The Neurocritical Care Advanced Practice Provider’s role entails close patient care, including: obtaining patient histories, neurological examination, performance of therapeutic procedures, interpretation of diagnostic tests, medication prescription, patient education and family communication. We hope to continue offering a supportive atmosphere for clinical skill development in the management of neurocritically-ill patients. Providers will be working closely with neurointensivists, pharmacists, residents, nurses, respiratory therapists, and other subspecialties in this multidisciplinary unit.
WORK SCHEDULE:
Full time position with 12-hour shifts
Will require rotating of nights and weekends
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
· Three years clinical experience in healthcare
· Valid DEA license, BLS certification, ACLS certification
· Neurocritical Care Society ENLS certification preferred
· Nurse practitioner: Master's Degree in Nursing, Graduate of Accredited Program for Nurse Practitioners, AZ RN license or RN License from a Compact State, Registered in AZ as Nurse Practitioner
· Physician assistant: Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant program, Certification as Physician Assistant from Arizona Joint Board of Medical and Osteopathic Examiner
