This course focuses on the essential role of the bedside nurse in caring for patients with aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage (aSAH). Participants will review pathophysiology and clinical presentation of aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage, and nursing interventions that promote patient safety and improve outcomes.
Objectives:
- Describe the pathophysiology and clinical presentation of aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage and its associated complications, including hydrocephalus and delayed cerebral ischemia.
- Discuss evidence-based nursing interventions used to monitor for complications, prevent secondary brain injury, and support optimal patient outcomes in individuals with aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage.
- Apply knowledge of aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage to identify nursing priorities throughout the acute phase of care.
