COURSE DESCRIPTIONS:
March 27, 2026 - Finding the Perfect Faculty Position After Fellowship
Fellowship directors and recent trainees will discuss their experiences and share advice around the faculty job process; two fellowship directors (Columbia University, University of Washington - FDS co-chairs) will discuss how they mentor their fellows during this process, and their perspective on how the job market has evolved over the years, and 3 recent graduates/NCC faculty (Rush university, Mount Sinai, Hartford Healthcare/St. Vincent's Medical Center) will review their experiences during a wide job search, covering various geographic regions, academic versus private institutions, visa considerations (J1 waiver), and negotiations. The session will be moderated by two current fellows who are members of the trainee section.
July 23, 2026 - The Art of Difficult Conversations: Providing Formative Feedback
Neurocritical care teams operate in fast‑paced, high‑risk environments where clear communication, trust, and continuous learning are essential for patient safety and team effectiveness. Leaders and clinicians are often required to provide feedback under pressure—during complex cases, shift transitions, or after adverse events—making difficult conversations unavoidable and consequential.
This webinar focuses on developing the skills needed to deliver formative feedback in neurocritical care settings in a way that supports clinical excellence, psychological safety, and team cohesion.
Through practical frameworks and contextualized examples, attendees will learn how to conduct difficult conversations that promote reflection, accountability, and professional growth—without compromising respect or collaboration in an already demanding care environment.
August 27, 2026 - Interdisciplinary Team Leadership in Neurocritical Care: Aligning Expertise for High‑Reliability Care
Neurocritical care relies on highly specialized, interdisciplinary teams working collaboratively in complex, time‑sensitive, and emotionally demanding environments. Effective team leadership in this setting goes beyond clinical expertise—it requires the ability to align diverse professional perspectives, foster psychological safety, manage competing priorities, and maintain clear communication under pressure.
This webinar focuses on the principles and practices of interdisciplinary team leadership within neurocritical care units. Participants will examine how strong leadership behaviors support shared decision‑making, optimize team performance, and improve patient and family outcomes. Emphasis will be placed on navigating role clarity, communication across disciplines, conflict management, and leadership presence during high‑acuity situations and systems stressors.
November 5, 2026 - Team Transitions: Managing Change
Change is a constant in neurocritical care—whether driven by evolving clinical evidence, staffing transitions, workflow redesign, new technologies, or organizational priorities. In a high‑acuity environment where reliability, coordination, and trust are essential, how teams experience and manage change directly impacts patient safety, team performance, and staff well‑being.
This webinar focuses on understanding and navigating team transitions in neurocritical care settings. Participants will explore how change affects individuals and interdisciplinary teams, identify common challenges during transitions, and learn leadership and communication strategies that support stability, adaptability, and resilience.
