B-Mode and Transcranial Color Doppler: A Case-Based Approach
June 4, 2026
| 3-4:30 PM CT
This session provides a focused overview of B-mode and transcranial color Doppler imaging of the brain. Participants will first briefly review basic ultrasound principles. Thereafter cases in which B-mode imaging will be presented highlighting practical image acquisition, vessel and anatomy identification, and interpretation of pathology relevant to bedside and neurocritical care use.
Available CE Hours: 1.5
Masterclass Objectives:
- Explain the basic ultrasound principles, probe selection, scanning technique, and standard insonation windows for B-mode and transcranial color doppler (TCCD) imaging of the brain.
- Identify normal cerebral anatomy and key intracranial structures and vessels using B-mode and TCCD imaging.
- Apply B-mode and TCCD imaging to clinical cases, including evaluation of elevated intracranial pressure, assessment of midline shift, and estimation of intracranial hematoma size.
