Neurocritical Care Knowledge Exchange: 2026 Webinar Series Foundations of Point of Care Cranial Ultrasound: Bridging TCD and TCCD
April 16
| 1:00 OM
This webinar provides a practical foundation in transcranial ultrasound for clinicians preparing to advance their skills and gain better understanding of Transcranial Color Doppler (TCCD) in Point of Care assessments. The session introduces essential concepts in both traditional transcranial Doppler (TCD) and TCCD, focusing on techniques achievable with conventional phased-array ultrasound probes. Participants will review cranial B-mode anatomy, cerebrovascular landmarks, and the basics of color Doppler imaging to support accurate insonation. The webinar also covers core applications in neurocritical care, including introductory approaches to evaluating elevated intracranial pressure and noninvasive ICP estimation.
Learners will leave with the confidence to perform foundational cranial ultrasound assessments and be well-prepared for a deeper dive in the upcoming ultrasound masterclass.
Webinar Objectives:
1. Describe the principles and limitations of obtaining transcranial Doppler (TCD) measurements using a conventional phased-array ultrasound probe.
2. Identify key cranial landmarks and vessel anatomy on B-mode and color Doppler imaging to support accurate insonation during transcranial ultrasound.
3. Explain the role of transcranial ultrasound in evaluating intracranial hypertension, including basic approaches to noninvasive ICP estimation
