Date Begin: 12/3/2024
Company: The Robert Larner, M.D. College of Medicine at The University of Vermont
Website: https://apptrkr.com/5840788

Burlington, VT - The Robert Larner, M.D. College of Medicine at the University of Vermont (UVM), the seventh oldest medical school in the nation, is seeking a nationally recognized physician leader and scholar in neurology to serve as the next Chair of Neurological Sciences. This is a unique opportunity to lead the Department's academic education and research, as well as the clinical operations of the Department for the UVM Health Network.

The Larner College of Medicine (LCOM) works closely with the only tertiary academic medical center in Vermont, the University of Vermont Medical Center. Together, they offer leading-edge clinical, research, and educational programs. The UVM Health Network, a health system with six hospitals, a large multispecialty physician group, outpatient clinics, home health, and hospice, serves the population of Vermont and northern New York.

The Department of Neurological Sciences at LCOM and UVM Health Network has an enduring commitment to providing excellent, state-of-the-art patient care, education, and research opportunities. This includes an ACGME-accredited neurology residency program and fellowships in clinical neurophysiology, multiple sclerosis, and neuromuscular medicine. The Department maintains a robust program of clinical, translational, and basic science investigations relevant to neurological disorders.

The next chair will bring a strong track record of leadership in clinical operations and successful mentorship of diverse faculty, development of sponsored research programs, commitment to education of the next generation, and be a proven leader and advocate for excellence in diversity, inclusion, and equity initiatives. Experience in advanced value-based care markets is highly preferred. Qualified candidates must hold an M.D. or M.D./Ph.D., a board certification by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, be eligible for medical licensure in Vermont, and have credentials appropriate for an appointment at the rank of associate professor or professor (clinical scholar or tenure pathway) at the University of Vermont.

All nominations, expressions of interest, and applications including a cover letter, DEI statement, CV, and names/contact information for three references should be directed to Kimberly Smith and Linda Komnick through the office of Tricia Porter preferably via e-mail to tporter@wittkieffer.com.

The University of Vermont is especially interested in candidates who can contribute to inclusive excellence through their teaching, service, and scholarship. Our community embraces and advances the values of Our Common Ground (https://www.uvm.edu/president/our-common-ground): openness, respect, responsibility, integrity, innovation, and justice while upholding the highest standards of professionalism (https://www.uvm.edu/larnermed/professionalism-larner), driven by a passion for lifelong learning and improvement. Cultural humility, kindness, and respect form the foundations upon which the college strives to elevate professionalism in all its endeavors. Professionalism is demonstrated through integrity, accountability, compassion, altruism, and social responsibility.

Successful candidates will exhibit a strong commitment to the tenets of Our Common Ground and the principles of professionalism. Applicants are required to submit a separate statement detailing how they would enhance the impact of Our Common Ground values and professionalism, and advance inclusive excellence at LCOM and among the populations the college serves through teaching, service, and scholarship.

The University of Vermont is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, protected veteran status, or any other category legally protected by federal or state law.
